Clermont is one of the best places to spend a quieter last day in the Orlando area. West of the theme parks, the city is known for rolling hills, lakes, a walkable downtown and an active waterfront. It gives travelers a more local Central Florida experience before a flight from Orlando International Airport.

If you have already checked out, dealing with suitcases can limit where you stop. Confirm that booking is live for your travel date before relying on the service.

Begin at Clermont Waterfront Park

Start beside Lake Minneola at Waterfront Park. The park is one of Clermont’s most-used public spaces and provides free access to the lakefront, walking paths, open lawns and places to sit near the water.

Take a relaxed walk along the South Lake Trail rather than trying to cover a long distance. Clermont’s hills and lakes make the scenery feel different from the flatter resort districts closer to Disney. A short waterfront route gives you fresh air without turning the day into a strenuous outing in Florida heat.

When an event is scheduled, the waterfront can become much livelier. Clermont publishes a calendar of concerts, festivals and seasonal celebrations, so check it before arriving.

Walk Into Historic Downtown Clermont

From the waterfront, continue toward Montrose Street and the surrounding downtown blocks. Browse locally owned shops, stop for coffee or choose a small gift that is easier to pack than another large theme-park souvenir.

Downtown Clermont works well on a departure day because it is compact. You can have lunch, walk several blocks and return to your car or rideshare without navigating a sprawling entertainment complex.

If your visit falls on a Sunday, check whether the downtown farmers market is operating. Otherwise, let the storefronts and cafés shape the route rather than following a rigid attraction list.

Choose a Lake View or the Citrus Tower

With extra time, choose one additional stop. Remain near Lake Minneola for a longer walk, or visit the Florida Citrus Tower for a broader view across Clermont’s lakes and hills. Built in 1956, the tower reflects the city’s history as a citrus-growing center.

Do not add Lake Louisa State Park casually before a flight. It is better treated as the main activity for travelers with most of the day available, suitable shoes and enough time for the drive back.

Plan the Drive to MCO

With about three hours, combine Waterfront Park, downtown browsing and lunch. With five or six hours, add the Citrus Tower or a longer lakeside route.

Clermont sits well west of MCO, and traffic around the theme-park corridors can change quickly. Leave earlier than the minimum estimate and preserve time for luggage collection, airline check-in and security.

Clermont is a fitting place to end an Orlando trip when you are ready to trade queues for lake air. Have one final coffee downtown, look across Lake Minneola and let the vacation close somewhere that does not require a ticket.
